Flight info:.
The nearest airport is Helsinki-Vantaa (HEL). Finding a flight for example in Momondo http://bit.ly/1knRAzZ .
There is also an international airport in Tallinn, Estonia, 80 km away from Helsinki. The route Tallinn – Helsinki is frequently connected by ferries, which cost about 60 – 70 euros a return ticket. Travelling via Tallinn can be a good choice especially for those who choose the option of 1 day benchmarking schools in Tallinn on Friday. They can choose to leave home from Tallinn instead of Helsinki. Then the ferry costs will be included in the travelling costs to be compensated by the EU grant.
More about the ferry schedules and prices in http://www.directferries.co.uk/helsinki_tallinn_ferry.htm.

Local travel: A multi-day-ticket (available up to 7 days) for all public transport of Helsinki capital city area costs 36 euro/5 days for the time being. You can find more information about it in https://www.hsl.fi/en .
One regional (“seutu”) single ticket costs 5 euros and it includes changes to another public transport in the area within the next 1 hour.
The trains between Helsinki main railway station and Tikkurila go every 15 min, and the trip takes about 20 min.  Helsinki capital city area has a population of more than one million. Nevertheless, public transport is normally very punctual and well functioning.  However, there may be slow traffic in Helsinki center due to rush hours. And snowfall may also cause delay in March.
