Participants meet in Tikkurila Upper Secondary School (Tikkurilan lukio). Dividing into 1. comprehensive school (grades 1-9) and 2. upper secondary (grades 10-12) groups. Guided tour in schools divided in groups. Walk to Varia vocational college (5 min).
10:00 – 10.45
Guided tour in Varia in groups. Coffee/tea.
10:45 – 11.15
Varia auditorium. Plenary meeting: Daily program. Organisational. Getting to know each other.
11.15  - 12.00
Topic 1: Presentation by Ilpo Halonen, Euneos FI: “Benchmarking in Finnish schools in the period of transition from non-digital to digital”. Questions/answers.
12.00 - 13.00
Lunch.

A. Observation in classrooms. Group 1 for Jokiniemi school.
B. 13:00-13:45 Group 2 for Tikkurila upper secondary school. Discussion.
C. Presentation about management by Ari Ranki, principal of Tikkurila upper secondary school.
Workshop on management, coached by Ari Ranki. Participants: principals, vice principals and teachers interested in administration.

TQ 3: “What is the most effective way for us to put
the student into the centre in education?” Coffee/tea.

Topic 3: Student in the centre.  Presentation of 
Mrs Leena Kolho-Venäläinen, principal of Jokiniemi school: 
“How does my school respond to the needs of support for students”.  
Discussions about monitoring students, supportive methods, 
special need students,  home and school cooperation. Sharing experiences.



10:45 -12:00
A. Observation in classrooms. Group 1 in Jokiniemi school.
C.  10.45 - 11.15 (3-day participants) Observation in classrooms.



B. Observation in classrooms. Group 2 in Tikkurila upper secondary school.
C. 11:20 – 12:00 (3-day participants) Filling in online evaluation form.

Walk to Heureka (15 – 20 min)



13:15 - 15.30
Visit to Heureka Science Center in Vantaa. Information about 
how Heureka Science Center  serves school education. 
Guided tour in Heureka.



15.30 - 17.00

Collaborative work in Heureka premises. Presentations of participants, max 5 slides/participant.
Certificates to 3-day participants. Farewell.




At the end of the course each participant should have 10 recommendations for their own school: realistic, well explained,
well documented with examples etc. maybe not only from Finnish system but also through comparison with other countries.
Each participant can present ‘How good is my school’ : 3 to 5 positive items of their own school.




Thursday 12 March

9.00 – 9.30
Daily program. Organisational. Comments on yesterday's program. TQ 4: What is the best way for us to guarantee the high professional level of the staff? Coffee/tea
9.30 – 10.45
Topic 4: Teacher in the centre. Presentation by Harri Luttinen, coordinator of KUUMA consortium: “How does KUUMA consortium organize teacher-in-service training?” Q & A.  
10.45 - 12.00
Observation in classrooms. Group 1 for Jokiniemi school, Group 2 for Tikkurila upper secondary school.
12.00 - 13.00
Lunch
13.00 - 13.45
Certificates. Farewell to Tallinn group. Coffee/tea
13.45 - 14.30
Transition to Helsinki center by bus/city train.
14.45 – 16.30
Helsinki group visits Finnish parliament and meets a Finnish M.P.
Tallinn group (7 days). Separate program.


Friday 13 March (Tallinn group)

9.00 – 9.30
Meeting in front of the Town Hall Square at 9.10 and walking together to Tallinn English Cottage.
9.30 – 10.05
Arrival at Tallinn English College. Welcome from school Principal, short presentation about the school.
10.05 - 10.50
Teachers are split to 4 groups of 4-5 persons, each group will go to separate lessons, observe, walk around the school building and check out the classes given by students (unique opportunity).
11.00 - 12.00
Workshop in the library, together with 3 Estonian teachers and high school students.
12.00 - 13.00
Lunch
13.00 - 14.30
Tallinn university. Presentation: overview, curricula, PISA results, the new national strategy of lifelong learning and classroom of the Future - Innovative learning spaces in teacher education
14.30 - 16.30
Final session. Filling in the online evaluation of the course. Writing a report on #benchmarkingcourse based on new information, observation and discussions. Follow-up. Networking.
